On a monthly stay, daily housekeeping often changes. How often is the room cleaned?
There is no single rule. Some hotels keep daily service on any rate, many extended-stay hotels clean weekly, and some let you choose. The only answer that matters is the one for your room on your dates, so ask before you book and keep the written reply.
What a weekly service usually includes
- Full clean of the bathroom and kitchen area.
- Fresh bed linen and towels.
- Vacuuming and dusting.
- Trash removal and restocking of basics like soap and toilet paper.
Between visits you live like at home: you take out daily trash, reuse towels, and keep the kitchenette tidy. Ask whether the front desk swaps towels or empties trash between visits; many hotels do this on request.
Your options: skip, add or reschedule
Weekly is a starting point, not a wall. Options worth asking for:
- Skip a week when you do not want anyone in the room.
- Add an extra clean for a fee when family visits or before you leave.
- Pick your service day so cleaning never lands on your work calls.
- Swap full service for a linen-and-towels refresh only.
Living well between visits
- Ask where to leave trash and linen on non-service days.
- Keep a small caddy with your own sponge, dish soap and wipes for daily messes.
- Report anything that breaks the same day. A slow drain is a five-minute fix in week one and a flood in week three.
- If you work from the room, agree quiet hours for cleaning so the vacuum does not join your meeting.
